Nobody Wants This Season 3 is streaming: new cast, Erin Foster's cameo and the Season 4 question
“Nobody Wants This” is back. All of Season 3 of the Netflix romantic comedy is now streaming, picking up the story of podcaster Joanne (Kristen Bell) and rabbi Noah (Adam Brody) as they move in together, with a batch of new faces and a surprise appearance from the show’s creator, Erin Foster.
Netflix’s companion site Tudum published its Season 3 guides on Thursday, Oct. 22.
What happens in Season 3?
After the back-and-forth of Season 2, the writers wanted to give the couple some stability. “Let’s let them have their moment now of settling in and having fun,” co-showrunner and executive producer Bruce Eric Kaplan told Tudum. Co-showrunner Jenni Konner added, “We didn’t have to do any more ‘Will they, won’t they?’ We know they are going to, and it was sort of, ‘How are they going to?’”
According to Tudum:
- Joanne and Noah move into a home together and work through the “firsts” of a settled relationship.
- Joanne takes an Intro to Judaism conversion class.
- Sasha (Timothy Simons) and Esther (Jackie Tohn) are back in the dating world.
- Morgan (Justine Lupe) takes her career to the next level, and Sasha and Morgan are circling feelings neither will admit to.
Spoiler: Tudum confirms the season includes Noah’s proposal to Joanne, and Foster said it was drawn from her own 2019 engagement.
Nobody Wants This Season 3 cast: who’s new?
Tudum listed these new and guest characters:
- Andrew Rannells as Sebastien, Joanne’s nemesis in conversion class
- Sarah Silverman as Rabbi Eden, who teaches the Intro to Judaism class
- Keyla Monterroso Mejia as Amber, a classmate determined to find a Jewish husband
- Avan Jogia as Travis, who enjoys getting under Joanne’s skin
- Poorna Jagannathan as Eleanor, Sebastien’s aunt
- Sadie Sandler as Denise, a young psychic who gives Morgan a reading
- Stephanie Koenig as Poppy, who goes on a date with Sasha
- Steven Weber as Julian, a divorced dad
- Erin Foster as Nicole
Who does Erin Foster play?
Foster, who created the series and is an executive producer, makes her first on-screen appearance in the show. She plays Nicole, whom Tudum describes as “terminally single, chaotic, and somewhat messy,” adding: “She’s Joanne if everything had gone wrong in her life.” Tudum’s cast guide calls Nicole a messy fan of Joanne’s podcast.
“Nicole really represents this sort of single, scatterbrained, crazy version that Joanne used to see herself as,” Foster told Tudum. The cast guide says the character almost derails Noah’s big romantic gesture.
Foster and her sister, Sara Foster, also promoted the season on TODAY on Oct. 21, where Erin joked about writing herself into the show.
Will there be a Season 4?
Not yet announced. As of Oct. 21, TV Insider reported that Netflix had not renewed the show for a fourth season and said it expected news on renewal or an ending “within the coming weeks.”
If it does return, TV Insider noted that Seasons 1 through 3 each arrived in the fall, in September or October, starting in 2024, so a fall 2027 release would fit the pattern. That is a projection, not a confirmed date.
