Stranger Things Day 2026: Fans Mark Nov. 6 After a Decade of Hawkins
Stranger Things Day is Friday, Nov. 6 — the calendar date when Will Byers disappeared in Hawkins in the show’s mythology — and fans are marking it again in 2026 with Netflix anniversary programming and Broadway events tied to the hit series.
The Netflix series, created by Matt and Ross Duffer, premiered on July 15, 2016. In a Tudum anniversary feature published earlier this year, Netflix said the show has earned more than 70 awards worldwide (including 12 Emmys), drawn 1.5 billion views through March 2026, and helped establish the annual Nov. 6 fan holiday. Seasons 4 and 5 were listed among Netflix’s most popular seasons of all time.
Why is Nov. 6 Stranger Things Day?
Inside the story, Nov. 6, 1983, is the night Will vanishes and the Upside Down plot begins. Outside the story, fans and Netflix have treated that date as an unofficial holiday for watch parties, merch drops and cast or crew messages. Netflix’s Tudum piece explicitly ties the anniversary celebration to Stranger Things Day “observed by fans annually on Nov. 6.”
How is Netflix marking the anniversary?
For the show’s 10-year mark, Netflix promoted several ways to revisit Hawkins:
- A VHS special edition of Season 1 with retro visual and audio effects, available by searching “Stranger Things VHS” or visiting Netflix’s dedicated VHS page
- Cast “Strange Memories” reflections on a decade of filming
- Merch and collectibles, including a 17-LP score box set and Funko split figures
- Complete-series Blu-ray/4K editions and an official behind-the-scenes book
- Immersive experiences at Netflix House venues in Philadelphia and Dallas, plus the making-of documentary One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5
The Duffer Brothers told Netflix they felt “nostalgic, proud, and a little sad,” and grateful to the cast, crew and fans after wrapping the live-action series. Executive producer Shawn Levy called the anniversary a chance to celebrate “Hawkins forever.”
What’s happening on Broadway for Stranger Things Day?
Stranger Things: The First Shadow — the Tony-winning stage prequel set in 1959 Hawkins — scheduled a second “Hawkins High School Homecoming Week” at the Marquis Theatre around Nov. 6, BroadwayWorld reported.
Friday’s Stranger Things Day programming includes a lobby Sharpie Day mural activity and a post-show cast talkback moderated by Francis Dominic. Earlier in the week the production offered friendship-bracelet crafting, a dining-experience promo and Dark Horse Comics prints. BroadwayWorld said the show’s Broadway run is scheduled to end Jan. 3, 2027, after nearly 1.8 million tickets sold across Broadway and the West End and more than 1,500 performances.
Netflix Tudum likewise noted the play continuing in New York and London (West End through Dec. 27 in that anniversary write-up).
