Charlie Woods Signs With Florida State Golf as Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren Look On
Charlie Woods is officially headed to Tallahassee. The 17-year-old son of Tiger Woods signed with Florida State men’s golf on Friday, Nov. 6, during a national signing day ceremony at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, USA Today reported. Woods had verbally committed to the Seminoles in February.
The ceremony drew attention well beyond golf because both of his parents, Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren, were there together.
What happened at the signing?
Charlie Woods put pen to paper at his school’s signing day event, making his commitment to Florida State official, according to USA Today. Photos published by Page Six and E! News showed Tiger Woods and Nordegren standing on either side of their son, all three dressed in Florida State gear.
Nordegren’s longtime boyfriend, former NFL player Jordan Cameron, also attended, along with the couple’s three children, who wore Seminoles merchandise as well, Page Six and E! News reported.
When Charlie announced his verbal commitment in February, he wrote on Instagram: “Excited to announce my commitment to play golf at Florida State University — go Noles!” Page Six reported. Tiger Woods commented at the time: “Congratulations, Charlie. I’m so proud of you on entering this next chapter of your life.”
Who is Charlie Woods as a golfer?
USA Today laid out his recent results and résumé:
- Earlier this week he helped The Benjamin School win the Florida regional championship at Miami Shores Country Club, shooting a 1-under 70 to tie teammate Brooks Colton.
- USA Today listed him at No. 133 in the American Junior Golf Association’s Rolex Rankings. (E! News cited a different AJGA ranking; the figures could reflect different lists or dates.)

Why are Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren drawing attention?
The former couple finalized their divorce in 2010 after Tiger Woods’ infidelity scandal, and Page Six described Friday’s photo as a rare one of them together. They have appeared together at several of their children’s milestones, including Charlie’s ring ceremonies and the 2024 PNC Championship, where Tiger played alongside Charlie and their daughter, Sam, caddied, according to Page Six.
E! News recalled Tiger telling Time magazine in 2015 that Nordegren is “one of my best friends” and that “the most important things in our lives are our kids.” Tiger Woods is now dating Vanessa Trump, both outlets noted.
What does Florida State offer?
USA Today noted that Florida State has appeared in the NCAA Tournament in five of the last six seasons, including a runner-up finish in 2024. Woods is expected to join the program after finishing high school.
What’s next for Tiger Woods?
USA Today reported that the five-time Masters champion could return to golf in December before a push toward Augusta in April. No specific event has been confirmed in that report.
