A touchdown taken off the board
Wisconsin nearly took a bigger lead into the break. On third-and-4 from the Rutgers 8 with 27 seconds left in the half, Hopkins threw to T. Henry and the play was first ruled a touchdown. After a replay review it was overturned to an incomplete pass, according to the CBS Sports play-by-play, and the Badgers settled for Lahm’s short field goal.
A Rutgers defensive pass interference penalty earlier in that drive helped Wisconsin into scoring range. Rutgers also had an interception by J. Conyers wiped out in the second quarter by a roughing-the-passer penalty.
First-half stats
The two teams have been close to even. CBS Sports’ halftime stats had Wisconsin with 161 total yards and Rutgers with 146. Neither team had turned the ball over.
- Rutgers: Surace went 7 of 9 for 88 yards and a touchdown. A. Raymond ran for 39 yards on nine carries.
- Wisconsin: Hopkins went 10 of 14 for 93 yards and a touchdown. S. Rigby had two catches for 33 yards.

Veterans Day tributes and a movie tie-in
Wisconsin planned Veterans Day tributes for the game, including a Veteran of the Game, the team running out with military flags, and a flyover by a World War II aircraft. The school is also marking the release of “The Mosquito Bowl,” a WWII drama about former Badgers players Bob Bauman and Dave Schreiner, who joined the Marines during the war.
