Who is Jason Galanis? What to know about Savannah Chrisley's fiancé, his age and his fraud case
Hours after Savannah Chrisley announced she is pregnant and engaged to a man she called only “Jason,” his full name came out. Us Weekly reported exclusively on Tuesday, Oct. 27, that her fiancé is Jason Galanis, and Page Six and E! News followed with the same identification.
The news drew wide attention because of who Galanis is. He is a businessman who was convicted in multiple financial fraud schemes, and like Chrisley’s parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, he received clemency from President Donald Trump in 2025. Here is what has been reported about him, and how Chrisley is responding to the backlash.
Who is Jason Galanis?
| Detail | What’s been reported |
|---|---|
| Age | 56, per Us Weekly, or 27 years older than Chrisley, who is 29 |
| Engaged | December 2025, after about five months of dating |
| Fraud conviction | Sentenced in September 2020 to federal prison for his role in fraud schemes |
| Clemency | Trump commuted his sentence in March 2025 |
| Prison overlap with Todd Chrisley | January to August 2023 at a federal prison camp in Pensacola, Florida, per Page Six |
E! News reported that Forbes dubbed Galanis “Porn’s New King” in 2004, after he bought what E! described as the largest U.S. processor of payments for internet porn.
His fraud case
According to Page Six, citing the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, Galanis was convicted for his part in several schemes:
- Tribal bonds: Galanis and co-conspirators, including his father, John, persuaded a Native American tribal entity tied to the Oglala Sioux in South Dakota to issue bonds. Instead of investing the proceeds as promised, they diverted more than $38 million into an account he controlled. Page Six reported that he personally spent more than $8.5 million on homes, cars, jewelry and travel.
- Gerova: A scheme involving the manipulation of Gerova Financial Group’s stock and defrauding clients of an investment advisory firm.
- TAG Virgin Islands: A separate scheme to defraud the investment advisory firm TAG Virgin Islands, Inc.
Outlets describe his sentence differently. Page Six’s explainer says he got 189 months, while Us Weekly says “more than 15 years,” and another Page Six story and E! News put it at about 14 years. Page Six also reported, citing The New York Times, that he was ordered to pay nearly $162 million in restitution.
On March 28, 2025, Trump commuted his sentence, which ordered his immediate release, Page Six reported. Us Weekly noted the White House did not explain its reasoning. Some outlets, including E! News, have called it a pardon. A commutation, the term Us Weekly and Page Six used, shortens a sentence but does not erase the conviction.
The Hunter Biden connection
Galanis had worked with Hunter Biden and his business associate Devon Archer on investment ventures, Page Six reported. In March 2024, while still in prison, he testified virtually before the House Oversight Committee as part of the Republican impeachment inquiry into then-President Joe Biden.
How he met Savannah Chrisley
Chrisley said on her Unlocked podcast that they met in “the world of politics” while she was campaigning for her parents’ pardons. Trump pardoned Todd and Julie Chrisley in May 2025, two months after Galanis’s commutation. Page Six reported that when her parents were freed, Galanis texted her, “Congratulations, you did it,” and she wrote back nine days later.
Us Weekly reported that Galanis was photographed with Chrisley and her parents at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in April. He doesn’t appear to have a public social media profile.
Savannah Chrisley on the age gap and the backlash
Chrisley addressed the age difference directly on the Oct. 27 episode of Unlocked. “The age difference, so what? I don’t care,” she said, as quoted by E! News. “He does not look his age, nor does he act his age.”
She also said, per Page Six, “I would rather [have] 20 phenomenal, unbelievable years with someone than 50 just [fine] years.”
As criticism mounted online, Chrisley posted an ultrasound image to her Instagram Stories with a message to her unborn child. “You are not a headline. You are not a controversy,” she wrote, as quoted by Page Six. “You are not defined by anyone’s past, anyone’s mistakes, or anyone’s opinions.” She added, “I will never apologize for celebrating you.”
Galanis has not publicly commented, as far as the reports we reviewed show.
