Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson Reportedly Split Last Year, but UNC Staffers Say They Weren't Aware

Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson, one of the most closely watched couples in college football, have reportedly been broken up for months. TMZ reported Friday, Oct. 30, that the North Carolina coach and his girlfriend quietly ended their romantic relationship late last year.

None of the coverage from USA Today, the New York Post and Boston.com included a public comment from Belichick or Hudson. And at least two people inside the UNC football office told USA Today they didn’t know about any split.

What did the report say?

According to TMZ, as cited by all three outlets:

• Belichick, 74, and Hudson, 25, split “late last year.” USA Today summarized the report as saying they broke up over a year ago, while TMZ’s own headline said “almost a year ago.” The exact timing is not clear.
• A source said the two “remain committed to their business partnerships and remain close friends.”
• A source also told TMZ that Hudson “has started seeing other people,” USA Today reported.

Why UNC staffers were surprised

Two people inside the UNC football office, including a high-ranking staff member, told USA Today they were not aware of a breakup. They spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.

Part of the confusion: Hudson has stayed visible around the program. USA Today reported she was on the sideline this season for the home opener against East Tennessee State and for the Oct. 3 loss to Notre Dame, and attended a high school game with Belichick in late September. Boston.com ran an AP photo of the two walking off the field together after UNC beat Duke on Oct. 17.

Hudson’s most recent Instagram photo of Belichick showed them holding hands at the Kentucky Derby on May 2, USA Today and the Post reported.

• Business ties. Boston.com reported that Hudson oversaw Belichick’s personal image rights and licensing through a management company, and that she filed trademark applications in 2025 for phrases such as “Chapel Bill.”
• Scrutiny. Hudson drew heavy attention after interjecting during Belichick’s April 2025 CBS Sunday Morning interview when he was asked how they met. Emails later showed she had a role in UNC football public relations in 2025, Boston.com reported.
• Belichick’s response. In a September interview with the Wall Street Journal, quoted by the Post, Belichick called claims that she was trying to act as the team’s general manager “so ridiculous,” and said she was copied on emails only to coordinate his personal appearances outside the university.

A turbulent season in Chapel Hill

The report comes during an eventful second season for Belichick. USA Today noted that general manager Michael Lombardi resigned amid an internal investigation in September, and Belichick’s son Steve announced his resignation as defensive coordinator two weeks later while on medical leave.
