Commanders Beat Eagles 27-10 on Sunday Night Football With 27 Straight Points; Philadelphia Drops Sixth Straight
The Washington Commanders shrugged off an ugly start and beat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-10 on Sunday Night Football on Nov. 1 in Landover, Maryland. Washington trailed 10-0 in the first quarter, then scored the game’s final 27 points as its defense shut out Philadelphia for more than three quarters.
It was Washington’s first win in more than a month. The Eagles have now lost six straight, according to the Associated Press.
Eagles vs. Commanders: how the game turned
Washington came out of its bye week looking rusty. Commanders.com reported four pre-snap fouls in the first nine plays. Drew Stevens missed a 55-yard field goal and tight end Chig Okonkwo lost a fumble. Saquon Barkley’s 3-yard touchdown run put Philadelphia ahead 10-0.
Jayden Daniels said afterward that he called the offense together after the fumble. He told reporters, “Honestly, it was complete B.S. the way we started,” per Commanders.com.
From there, Washington took over:
- First quarter: Stevens hit a 56-yard field goal to cut the lead to 10-3.
- Second quarter: Daniels finished an 89-yard drive with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs to tie it at 10. A 39-yard Stevens field goal made it 13-10 at halftime.
- Third quarter: Dorance Armstrong forced a McKee fumble that Charles Omenihu recovered. A 53-yard pass to Treylon Burks set up another field goal.
- Fourth quarter: Jake Elliott’s 36-yard field goal try was wiped out by an illegal formation penalty, and his 41-yard retry hit the left upright. Stevens added his fourth field goal. Rasul Douglas then intercepted McKee on fourth down, and Rachaad White’s 33-yard run set up his own short touchdown to seal it.
Jayden Daniels stats and key Commanders performances
Daniels threw for 217 yards and a touchdown and had 240 total yards, according to Commanders.com. It was his first win as a starter since Oct. 5, 2025, against the Los Angeles Chargers, the AP noted. He took a hard hit late in the first half but stayed in.
“It’s a blessing from God just to go out there, and everything I’ve been through in my career so far,” Daniels said, per the AP.
With Terry McLaurin on injured reserve, Burks led Washington with 81 receiving yards. Diggs caught his fifth touchdown of the season. Rachaad White broke the 33-yard run that set up his clinching touchdown.
Tanner McKee and the Eagles’ struggles
Making his third start of the season in place of the injured Jalen Hurts, Tanner McKee threw for 212 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. He was sacked five times, the AP reported. Commanders.com said Washington pressured him on 46.5% of his dropbacks, a season high for the defense.
Philadelphia managed 268 total yards, and only 199 before a meaningless final drive. Barkley was held to 30 yards on 13 carries, and the Eagles ran for 91 yards as a team.
Coach Nick Sirianni didn’t hide his frustration. “I know nobody feels sorry for us, that’s for damn sure,” he said, per the AP. “Obviously, it sucks.”
Barkley was just as blunt: “We’re not the big bad Eagles anymore.”
NFC East standings impact
Washington improved to 2-4-1 and earned its first division win. It sits two games behind the first-place New York Giants in what the AP called a weak NFC East. Philadelphia fell to 2-6 and is in last place.
Injuries
- Eagles: Safety Michael Carter suffered an abdominal injury.
