Brooklyn hasn’t beaten New York since Jan. 28, 2023, shortly before the Nets traded Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the AP noted. The Knicks’ two home wins over Brooklyn last season came by scores of 134-98 and 120-66, the latter a 54-point margin that was the largest win in franchise history. Monday’s game was much closer for three quarters, even if the finish looked familiar.
Rotation notes
Jose Alvarado returned after missing four games with a sprained left ankle. Coach Mike Brown said Alvarado would reclaim the backup point guard role, per the AP, but Brown went with Tyler Kolek to start the fourth, and Kolek had a basket and an assist during the opening run.
