Beyoncé covers i-D for Cécred's UK launch, jokes that even people who 'can't stand' her music use it
Beyoncé had a busy Monday. The singer is on the cover of i-D magazine for the first time in 20 years, in a special edition celebrating her hair-care brand Cécred’s expansion into the United Kingdom. Separately, she and Jay-Z were seen on a rare night out in Las Vegas.
The i-D cover
The cover was photographed by Blair Caldwell and styled by Shiona Turini, Page Six reported. Beyoncé, 45, wears a cream-toned fur stole, sheer black tights, stiletto heels and a stack of diamonds, with one heel resting on the cap of a Cécred product as a nod to the brand.
Her hair, styled by Neal Farinah with her own products, hangs in damp, side-parted curls.
Key details from the reporting:
- It’s her first i-D cover in 20 years; the last ran in August 2006, per Page Six.
- The jewelry includes a Tiffany & Co. choker from its Blue Book 2024 collection, inspired by Jean Schlumberger’s Apollo brooch, plus a “Cécred” nameplate necklace.
- Only one image is out so far. An eight-page print spread is available to order online and ships Nov. 10, Page Six said.
- The full interview hasn’t been posted online yet.
What Beyoncé said about Cécred
In the portion of the interview released Monday, Beyoncé described building the brand with her mother, Tina Knowles, according to Billboard.
“My mother and I poured decades of experience, tradition, and love into Cécred, so seeing our community grow across every ethnicity, texture, generation and gender is so fulfilling,” she said. “In the beginning, it took some conditioning from the world’s perception of how to launch a brand founded by someone like me.”
She also delivered the line that got the most attention:
“I’m the founder, visionary and sole investor, not the face or model for this brand. I had a vision to build something that solved real problems and performed so incredibly that the people who can’t stand my music still use Cécred, haaaa! … because it works.”
