The sci-fi horror series From, long an MGM+ exclusive, has found a big new audience since its first three seasons landed on Netflix in the U.S. on Monday, Oct. 19. Within two days it had climbed to No. 5 on Netflix’s U.S. TV chart, according to FlixPatrol figures cited by Men’s Journal, and plenty of new viewers are now asking the same thing: is it worth starting, and when does the story end?

Here’s a quick guide based on what has been reported.

What is From about?

The show is set in a small town that nobody can leave. Every road out loops back in. At night, humanlike, smiling creatures come out of the surrounding forest, and residents survive only by getting indoors before dark, protected by mysterious stone talismans that keep the monsters from entering their homes, TV Insider explains.

The first season opens with the Matthews family arriving in an RV and quickly discovering that car trouble is the least of their worries. Over time, the residents learn that the monsters are only part of a much larger mystery.

Who is in the cast?

Harold Perrineau leads the show as Sheriff Boyd Stevens, a retired Army veteran. Perrineau, who is also an executive producer, is familiar to many viewers from Lost, where he played Michael Dawson.

The ensemble includes:

  • Catalina Sandino Moreno as Tabitha Matthews
  • Eion Bailey
  • Scott McCord as Victor Kavanaugh
  • Ricky He as Kenny Liu
  • Hannah Cheramy as Julie Matthews
  • David Alpay as Jade Herrera
  • Elizabeth Saunders as Donna
  • Avery Konrad as Sara Myers

The Lost connection

The Lost comparisons are not just about tone. Creator John Griffin works with showrunner Jeff Pinkner and director and executive producer Jack Bender, both of whom worked on Lost, according to MGM+ as cited by Men’s Journal. Anthony and Joe Russo are among the executive producers.

How do critics rate it?

Reviews have been strong overall. Men’s Journal lists these Rotten Tomatoes critics scores:

Season Critics score
Season 1 96%
Season 2 93%
Season 3 100%
Season 4 96%

Not everyone loved the latest chapter. Forbes’ Erik Kain called Season 4 a “crushing disappointment,” Men’s Journal noted, while still saying the series is “100% worth streaming.” Screen Rant has reported that audience scores run lower than critics’ scores, with Season 1 rated highest by viewers.

MGM+ has called From the most-viewed series in the history of the network.

What’s on Netflix, and what isn’t

Netflix has Seasons 1 through 3 under what has been described as a limited-time licensing deal, tied to a promotional window ahead of the final season. Season 4, which aired from April 19 to June 28, 2026, remains on MGM+. Netflix has not said how long the show will stay on the service.

Where What’s available
Netflix (U.S.) Seasons 1-3
MGM+ Seasons 1-4, plus Season 5 when it premieres

From Season 5: what we know

MGM+ renewed From in April 2026 for a fifth and final season, announced before Season 4 premiered. Filming began in Nova Scotia shortly after the Season 4 finale, with cast members sharing behind-the-scenes posts in early July, Screen Rant reported. Production is set to wrap in late November, according to Men’s Journal.

The final season is due on MGM+ in 2027. No exact premiere date has been announced.

Season 4’s finale left several big questions open, including Fatima’s transformation, the fallout from pulling up the bottle tree, and the true allegiances of the Boy in White, so the last season has plenty to resolve.
