Anthony Edwards’ 47 wasn’t enough
Edwards had been listed questionable earlier Monday with what the team called right knee injury management before being cleared, and it didn’t slow him down. It was the seventh time in his career he has scored at least 47 and his most ever against Cleveland, the AP said.
He made a 3-pointer to tie the game at 121 in overtime. But with Minnesota down three and 9.2 seconds left, LaMelo Ball missed two free throws. Edwards grabbed the rebound and missed a wide-open 3 from the top of the key, per the AP.
Meleek Thomas makes an instant impact
Thomas, the 34th overall pick in June’s NBA draft, went 6 of 10 from the field and 4 of 5 from 3-point range in 19 minutes off the bench, with two rebounds and a steal, CBS Sports reported. ESPN said the Cavaliers credited him with sparking the win.
His shooting came as Cleveland chipped away at a deficit that reached 15 in the second quarter.
