GTA 6 Release Date: Grand Theft Auto VI Still Set for Nov. 19, With Preloading Starting Nov. 12
The countdown is down to weeks, not years. Grand Theft Auto VI is still scheduled to launch on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Rockstar Games keeps feeding fans new details about the game ahead of release, including the latest look at how players shape the relationship between its two leads.
Here’s everything confirmed so far about the date, the price, preloading and platforms.
When is the GTA 6 release date?
Rockstar’s official site lists Grand Theft Auto VI as “Coming November 19, 2026.” The game has slipped before, first to May 2026 and then to November, which is why every Take-Two earnings report draws attention. In August, Take-Two confirmed the game was still on track for Nov. 19, GameSpot reported, with CEO Strauss Zelnick citing “excitement around the November 19 launch” while reiterating the company’s fiscal-year outlook.
Nothing from Rockstar or Take-Two since then has signaled another delay. As of Monday, Nov. 2, launch is 17 days away.
When can you preload GTA 6?
According to Take-Two’s pre-order announcement, players who pre-order a digital copy can start preloading on Nov. 12, 2026. The physical version, which contains a download code inside the box, also becomes available Nov. 12 so buyers can preload before launch day.
How much does GTA 6 cost?
- Standard edition: $79.99
- Ultimate Edition: $99.99, with an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and in-story extras
All pre-orders and purchases made before Nov. 20 include the Vintage Vice City Pack, Take-Two said, and digital pre-orders also come with a free month of GTA+.
What platforms is GTA 6 on? Is it on PC or PS4?
At launch, GTA 6 is available only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Collider notes that PlayStation has said the game won’t be playable on PS4. Rockstar hasn’t announced a PC version; Collider describes a PC launch as rumored for early next year, but that is not confirmed.
Latest news: Jason and Lucia’s relationship is up to you
The newest detail came over the weekend. In an interview with Edge Magazine reported by GamesRadar+ on Nov. 1, co-studio head and lead developer Rob Nelson said the relationship between Jason and Lucia is shaped by the player.
“We start them wanting to be together, and wanting to give this relationship of theirs another shot. But, as the game progresses, it’s yours to keep or yours to lose,” Nelson said.
According to GamesRadar+, the pair can become romantically involved, stay strictly partners in crime, or get together and later break up. Small actions matter: you can nudge them closer by doing things like holding hands, but ignoring too many late-night calls from your partner can cause trouble.
Nelson said the idea traces back to Red Dead Redemption 2 and Arthur Morgan’s “selfishness versus selflessness” struggle. “These games, maybe some people think ‘oh, they’re power fantasies’. Sure,” he said. “But what if these characters want something else?”
What is GTA 6 about?
The game is set in Vice City and the wider state of Leonida, Rockstar’s take on Florida. Per Rockstar’s official description, Jason and Lucia “have always known the deck is stacked against them,” and when “an easy score goes wrong,” they’re pulled into a criminal conspiracy that stretches across the state.
