Popeyes Cajun Onion Rings Return: Price, How Long They Last and the New $10 Chicken Deal
Popeyes’ Cajun Onion Rings are back. The chicken chain returned the long-missed side to menus on Monday, Nov. 2, for a limited time, giving fans a bite of something many hadn’t seen in years.
Are Popeyes Cajun onion rings back?
Yes. The Cajun Onion Rings are available starting Nov. 2, according to QSR Magazine, and The Takeout reported they are launching at locations across the country. Nation’s Restaurant News (NRN) said this is the first time in about 10 years that the item has been widely available, and described the return as limited-time.
As with most fast-food launches, availability may vary by restaurant, so it’s worth checking the Popeyes app or calling ahead.
Popeyes onion rings price
An order costs $3.99, according to all three outlets. NRN said the rings are meant to be shared. They are thick-cut and seasoned with Cajun spice, The Takeout reported.
How long will they be around?
Popeyes hasn’t said publicly how long the limited run will last, based on the coverage so far. If you’re a fan, it’s probably best not to wait.
A cult favorite with a long history
According to NRN, citing Sporked, the onion rings date back to at least the 1980s and became a cult-favorite side before disappearing from most U.S. menus in the 2010s. The Takeout said the item was popular nationwide from the 1980s into the 2000s and was gone by the end of the last decade.
Fans have been asking for them back on Reddit and social media since at least 2022, NRN reported. “They were the best fast food onion rings,” one Redditor wrote, as quoted by The Takeout. Popeyes began testing the rings at select U.S. locations this summer, NRN said, and The Takeout noted that some fans tried prototypes at the 2026 Popeyes Convention.
Also new: 6 pieces of chicken for $10
The rings arrive with a value offer. Popeyes is also selling six pieces of its Signature Bone-In Chicken for $10 for a limited time starting Nov. 2, QSR Magazine reported.
Why Popeyes is doing this now
The return comes at a tough moment for the chain. NRN reported that Popeyes’ third-quarter U.S. same-store sales fell 2.2%, the eighth decline in the past nine quarters, and that the company dismissed its chief marketing officer last week. Popeyes also launched a new ad campaign, “THAT Chicken from Popeyes,” with its new creative agency, Anomaly.
NRN, citing Technomic data, said Popeyes already leads the fast-food market in Cajun-flavored orders. Bringing back a nostalgic Cajun side gives it one more way to stand out as competition in chicken keeps heating up.
